2013 Hugo Deadline Nears

Eligible voters have until March 10 to nominate for the 2013 Hugo Awards.

Those who had Supporting or Attending memberships in Chicon 7 (the 2012 Worldcon), or joined LoneStarCon 3 or Loncon 3 (the 2014 Worldcon) as a Supporting, Attending, or Young Adult member by January 31, 2013 may cast a nominating ballot. Electronic voting is an option – see details here.

Ballots must be received by Sunday, March 10, 2013, 11:59 p.m. EDT.

SAN ANTONIO,Texas  LoneStarCon 3, the 71st World Science Fiction Convention (“Worldcon”), today issued a reminder that the March 10 deadline for casting nominating ballots for the 2013 Hugo Awards and John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer is now less than two weeks away.

To be entitled to submit a nomination ballot, you must have joined LoneStarCon 3 or Loncon 3 (the 2014 Worldcon) as a Supporting, Attending, or Young Adult member by January 31, 2013, or have been a Supporting or Attending member of Chicon 7, the 2012 Worldcon. Nomination ballots must be received by Sunday, March 10, 2013, 11:59 p.m. EDT (Sunday, March 10, 2013, 8:59 p.m. PDT; Monday, March 11, 2013, 6:59 a.m. UTC/GMT).

The Hugo Awards are the premier award of the science fiction genre, honoring science fiction literature and media, as well as fans of the genre. The Hugo Awards were first presented at the 1953 World Science Fiction Convention inPhiladelphia(Philcon II), and they have continued to honor science fiction and fantasy notables for nearly 60 years.

More information about the Hugo Awards, including details on how to submit a nomination ballot, is available from www.LoneStarCon3.org/hugo-awards/. Ballots may be submitted by postal mail or online. Online voters will need a unique LoneStarCon 3 Personal Identification Number (PIN) to enter their ballot. These have already been issued to members by email and also distributed along with Progress Report 3, for those members receiving printed progress reports.
