2018 TAFF Result

Swedish fan Johan Anglemark has been voted this year’s Trans-Atlantic Fan Fund delegate to Worldcon 76 in San Jose over August 16-20, 2018.

TAFF co-administrator John Purcell described it as “a very close, highly contested race.” Complete voting result breakdowns will follow in an official TAFF Press Release within the next 24 hours which Purcell and Anna Raftery, the outgoing European TAFF Administrator, are preparing. “Anna and I congratulate Johan for this exciting win, and also thank candidates Fia Karlsson and Helena McCallum for making this campaign so much fun and a great success.”

  1. Johan Anglemark is more or less legendary for us swedish role-players. I am very happy to see him as the TAFF delegate.

  2. When I first came info fandom, Johan was one of the people who took me under his wings and explained all the stuff to me. He said I’d probably enjoy going to international cons, so I went to Loncon. He said Finnish fandom was awesome, and they are. He sold in Åcon and Eastercon, and he continues to give these friendly suggestions to all he meet, as I am sure he will do in North America. I admire him greatly and think it’s only fitting that he’s the first Swedish TAFF delegate! 🙂

It has been a fun race, and I am also happy to have met the lovely Adela, who would have been awesome as well. Thank you to all of you who’ve voted and supported the race!

  3. All three candidates – Johan, Fia, and Adela – exemplify the best of what fandom offers: friendly competition and humour. It has been a real privilege to be a part of this process, and I am positive that Johan will be a fantastic TAFF delegate to WorldCon 76. Thank you, all, for making this a fun and wonderful experience.

  4. Helena and Fia, you would have been such splendid delegates. Thanks for being the sweetest bitter rivals in this fun race!
