2019 Primetime Emmy Awards

The 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards were presented September 22 in Los Angeles.

Game of Thrones claimed the Emmy for outstanding drama series, the fourth win for best drama, tying it with the other four-time victors in the category — Hill Street Blues,L.A. Law, The West Wing and Mad Men.

Peter Dinklage also took home his fourth Emmy for his role as Tyrion Lannister.

“This all started in the demented mind of George R.R. Martin,” executive producer David Benioff said on stage.

[Apologies for any of these that were really given during the Creative Arts Emmys broadcast last weekend, though I’ve tried to sort that out.]

  1. The awards included an “In Memoriam” segment for actors, writers, directors, etc. who died in the past year. Not broadcast was the Creative Arts Emmys, mostly for technical and otherwise less famous roles, and it also included an tribute to those who have passed. Both included a number of people who have worked on genre projects. Many of them are also noted here.
