BAFTA announced the nominees for the 2020 British Academy Games Awards on March 3. The two games with the highest number of nominations are Control and Death Stranding with 11 each, the highest number of nominations for any games in the history of the awards (BAFTA’s first standalone games ceremony was in 2004).
Voting is now open for the EE Mobile Game of the Year, the only award voted for by the public. The shortlist is Assemble with Care, Call of Duty: Mobile, Dead Man’s Phone, Pokémon Go, Tangle Tower and What the Golf. Vote now here.
All other categories will be voted for by BAFTA’s global membership, comprising experienced games industry practitioners from a range of backgrounds in game development and production.
BAFTA has previously announced that Japanese video game legend Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear series as well as Death Stranding, will be presented with a fellowship at the ceremony, the British Academy’s highest honor.
The 2020 BAFTA Games Awards will take place April 2 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.

I like Control for artistic achievement – that game’s visual style (as a whole) is fantastic, and the general writing in the game (particularly with the documents you find in The Oldest House) is fantastic.
Delighted to see Knights & Bikes getting a couple of noms; it’s one of those delightful little “filler” indie games that scratches an itch one didn’t know one had.
