Valente Wins First Eugie Foster Award

“The Long Goodnight of Violet Wild” by Catherynne M. Valente is the winner of the inaugural Eugie Foster Memorial Award for Short Fiction . The announcement was made at Dragon Con on September 4.

The award is given to works of original speculative short fiction, no longer than 20,000 words, published for the first time in English during the previous year.

It is a juried award that takes nominations “from editors, reviewers, and select readers.”
