Cats Sleep on SFF: Shapers of Worlds vol. 2

Patricia Bryan presents Mooglie, sitting on James Allan Gardner’s “I Remember Paris” in Shapers of Worlds vol 2.

Pat adds, “This story combines my favourite subgenre…Greek mythology in science fiction…so if you can recommend any short stories I would appreciate it. Already own the exquisite Mythic Journey, and the lesser Food for the Gods.”

Cats Geek on SFF: A Dream of a Thousand Cats

JJ was astonished by the reaction:

Neither of my cats have ever paid ANY attention to the TV. But awhile back I was watching The Sandman episode “A Dream of a Thousand Cats”. When this episode started, Ancillary Cat suddenly JUMPED off the couch next to me onto the coffee table and was riveted by the TV — for the entire episode. When the second half, “Calliope”, came on, she lost interest.

So I went back to the “Dream” episode, and she was again instantly mesmerized. I have never seen her do anything like this with anything on the TV. I guess it is a high compliment to the animators that it seemed so realistic to her.

Cats Sleep on SFF: The Plague Star

Voyaging volume I: The Plague Star graphic novel by George R.R. Martin, art and adaptation by Raya Golden, was released this week, and Cordelia, Raya’s cat told me she would a-purr-ciate if File 770 would be so kind as to showcase her hooman’s latest graphic novel endeavor.

And that Raya is introducing Tuf in Voyaging volume I: The Plague Star and would like to focus all marketing strategies on just Voyaging and cats in space and not reveal the hero, Haviland ;).

Cats Sleep on SFF: The Oppenheimer Alternative

Chris Barkley knows the reason his cat’s not asleep:

Nova’s morning catnap is interrupted when she senses some serious side eye coming from someone who looks suspiciously like J. Robert Oppenheimer. (OR, could that be Cillian Murphy?????)

Cats Sleep on SFF: The Healer

No, make that – Dog on SFF! Kendall explains:

Ozma’s eight months old; we got her from a rescue two months ago. I recently found Michael Blumlein, MD’s The Healer, used, but my excuse for not reading it yet is that she’s on it!  😉

She started licking the top of the book, so I had to rescue it from her.  Now I have no excuse for not opening it.

Cats Sleep on SFF: The Mind-Twisters Affair

Dale Nelson’s red-ginger tomcat kitten is Giles, from Tolkien’s red-bearded farmer of Ham.  The Mind-Twisters Affair was a media tie-in novel of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. co-written by Buck Coulson, producer with Juanita of the fanzine Yandro. Nelson says, “I’ve just arrived at the point where Napoleon Solo is going to investigate a locally-disliked fellow named Whateley, who operates TV station WHPL.”
