Tolkien’s Books Are So Worth Something

A set of The Lord of the Rings brought £24,000 at auction in England the other day. (Take that, Saul Zaentz!) It was a first edition with all three title pages autographed by J.R.R. Tolkien, and came from Rayner Unwin of the publishing firm, Allen and Unwin.

[Thanks to David Klaus for the story.]

  1. I’m still satisfied to consider it a Great Find to have gotten the three Ace volumes for 50 cents at a rummage sale.
