  1. Condolences on losing the Fanzine Hugo, and by only 7 votes. Even though the winning publication qualified as a fanzine according to the WSFS Constitution, it belongs in the Semiprozine category since it is primarily a fictionzine that pays cash for stories it publishes. I am hoping this loophole gets closed quickly.

Klima wrote earlier that he planned to move his zine to Semiprozine after this year but I can’t remember the reason off the top of my head, though as I recall it was for some other cause than paying for fiction. In other words, some new, additional reason that made him conclude that would become the correct category. Perhaps I can locate the reference when I get back home and have time to look (I’m on a rented Kinko’s workstation in Denver just this moment… just across the street from the convention center.)

  3. Mike, I just posted this to a fan mailing list on Monday:

    Here’s a look, between EV editor John Klima and Mike Glyer at FILE770
    , at the eligibility of the nomination when
    it occurred last March. They have good points to make. Can’t take that
    away from them. In the comments on this, Klima notes “When we get to
    this point next year, I will be semipro. This is mostly due to joining
    forces with Night Shade Books. Prior to that I did this entire endeavor
    completely on my own.”

    This may just have been a hit and run…
