Dirk M. Weger announced a Helsinki in 2017 Worldcon bid on the JOF (Journeymen of Fandom) Facebook group.
Helsinki will compete with already announced 2017 bids for Japan and Montréal.
Crystal Huff notes that 2017 is Finland’s centennial year as an independent nation.
This is a rollover of the narrowly defeated bid for 2015, says Cheryl Morgan, who hypothesizes that a Helsinki win would be very helpful to Dublin in 2019.
