    Yes, we have that movie on DVD, which is readily available even if episodes of the series aren’t — but there’s also a new comic with writing and art deliberately in the style of the show, so you can get your fave, newest bat-issue every bat-month!

    On January 12, 1966, having read about the upcoming series in a one-line notation in an issue of TV Guide the previous September, I fought to stay home from a movie because I would *die* if I missed the premier of Batman. When the commercials showed someone who was apparently the Riddler being caught by a not-quite-resolvable batarang with a line attached to it, and when the opening credits showed the Dynamic Duo running and caricatures of the Riddler, the Joker, and the Penguin, I was in 10-year-old heaven, because even the Superman t.v. show never had Lex Luthor, Braniac, Bizarro, or any other of my Mort Weisinger-edited favorite super-villains.

    You had to be there, at that age, at that time, to truly understand it.
