First Look at Rachel Bloom’s New Series

A clip has been released from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend starring Rachel Bloom in which she plays —

Rebecca Bunch, a successful driven, and possibly crazy young woman who impulsively gives up everything in a desperate attempt to find love and happiness…in suburban West Covina, CA.

Bloom is known to fans for her Hugo-nominated music video “F*** Me, Ray Bradbury.”

  1. I don’t know this for a fact, but I’d bet a nickle that the W. C. of this series has as little relation to the real place as the Chico of The O. C. was complained of being.

Having once driven to it, I found that West Covina is also 2 to 2-1/2 times the driving time and distance from Arcadia which I estimated (if memory is true-to-fact, as it was over thirty years ago). One has to interpret correctly the scale of which of two different Triple-A maps one references and compute accordingly, which on that occasion I hadn’t.

A sitcom probably could have been derived from that trip, as fans D.A., G.J., and I all made each other uncomfortable during the same hospital visit to the injured fanne on which all three of us had simultaneous crushes. (At least that was what mine was — theirs were more long-term longing and/or actual love, to be more accurate.)

Funny commercial scene set on a train after a border crossing and check for visas:

Clone-Natasha Fatale: Is your VISA [card] goot in Vest Covina?

George Burns: [stage whisper] It’s even good in East Covina.
