This is Brandon Sanderson’s second Legend Award, he previously won in 2011 with The Way of Kings.

There were 17,059 votes cast in the first round (longlists) and 19,700 in the second (shortlists).

  2. Congratulations to both authors and to Sam Green.

    I’ve read the Brian Staveley book and it’s a very respectable debut. It doesn’t offer many surprises in terms of worldbuilding – it’s straight-up modern fantasy – but it’s certainly well-crafted.

  3. The Emperors Blades was quite silly.
    Surly men (and women) flying about on giant kestrels.
    I should get an award for finishing it.
