If you have ever been curious about elixirs of eternal life, fabled gateways to the underworld, the spells of witches that turn men into beasts or the oracles of ancient Greece, Matt Kaplan is your perfect armchair guide.

The Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination hosts a talk by noted science journalist and writer Matt Kaplan on Tuesday, November 10 at 6:30 p.m.

Matt Kaplan is a science correspondent with The Economist and has contributed weekly articles to its science and technology section for a decade. He has also written for National Geographic, Nature, and The New York Times. When not chained to a desk in England, Kaplan travels the world exploring our most cherished myths and legends.

Kaplan’s latest book is Science of the Magical, available October 27.

The UC San Diego bookstore will have copies for sale at the event and Matt Kaplan will sign at the end of the discussion.

This free event is at UCSD in Atkinson Auditorium, first floor of Qualcomm Institute/Atkinson Hall. Discussion begins at 6:30PM. Please RSVP here: http://mattkaplan.eventbrite.com
