SFWA Cancels Architects of Wonder Project

The SFWA Board, saying the decision was made “regretfully” and “due to difficulties outside its control,” has cancelled the Architects of Wonder: 50 Years of Nebula Short Fiction project. The collection, edited by former SFWA President Robin Wayne Bailey, was originally intended to be released in 2015 at the SFWA 50th Anniversary celebration and contain a comprehensive collection of Nebula-award winning short fiction.

According to a SFWA press release:

The cancellation is part of an overall budget reduction whose other measures have included trimming back on event participation, the cancellation of the 2015 New York reception, and the cancellation or suspension of a number of other projects. The SFWA Board thanks Robin Wayne Bailey for his hard work assembling the collection of Nebula winners. The forward written by Dr. James Gunn will appear on the forthcoming Nebula Awards website.

  1. Somebody’s spellchecker went awry — it’s foreword, not forward.

We once had an editor for one of our online zines who never admitted to us that she was a terrible speller. I only found out in checking her personal zine. We parted company shortly thereafter.
