  1. The Imperial Radch books have now racked up for their author:

Winner of Hugo, Nebula, Clarke, 2 BSFAs, BFA, 3 Locus, 2 Seiuns
Finalist for 2 Hugos, 2 Nebulas, Tiptree, PKD, Campbell, Compton Crook, Dragon, Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis

    That’s some pretty heavy lifting.

  2. Translating Roderick sounds to me like it’d be an unusually frustrating task. Even if one decided at the start to focus on the story and not try to capture all the jokes, ciphers, diagrams, etc… it’s often hard to tell whether a particular passage is there just for the sake of a joke or for some other reason, which I would think would make it hard to tell whether the translation was on the right track. I love Sladek, but after reading that one several times I had to conclude that while he was very strong at the level of tiny verbal detail and also at the big-picture thematic level, everything in between just couldn’t hold his interest for long.
