We are not born equal. We must be made equal by the fire…and then we can be happy.

  1. Um–I need to re-read my copy of this, but my first reaction is not good. It’s like someone said–Here’s a great idea but it’s not dark enough. We need to hit them over the head with the oppression.

  2. Part of what made the book, and previous cinematographies of F451, was how *banal* the world was. There was no high-tension YOU ARE BEING WATCHED vibes, the Firemen weren’t a secret police force. It was casual, almost. It was a horriffic world, but it was a world the majority of people interacted with “normally.” I get the (probably incorrect) impression that the makers of this movie wanted to do a reboot of Equilibrium but instead decided for whatever reason to go with Ray Bradbury’s story.

  3. Why are there words in signs and branding?
It’s been a long time since I read the book, but I thought this was supposed to be a largely illiterate society.
