HBO has released a new trailer for Fahrenheit 451, starring Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon, which premieres May 19 at 8 p.m.
We are not born equal. We must be made equal by the fire…and then we can be happy.

Um–I need to re-read my copy of this, but my first reaction is not good. It’s like someone said–Here’s a great idea but it’s not dark enough. We need to hit them over the head with the oppression.
Maybe it is a good thing they left Ray’s name off of this trailer…
Part of what made the book, and previous cinematographies of F451, was how *banal* the world was. There was no high-tension YOU ARE BEING WATCHED vibes, the Firemen weren’t a secret police force. It was casual, almost. It was a horriffic world, but it was a world the majority of people interacted with “normally.” I get the (probably incorrect) impression that the makers of this movie wanted to do a reboot of Equilibrium but instead decided for whatever reason to go with Ray Bradbury’s story.
Why are there words in signs and branding?
It’s been a long time since I read the book, but I thought this was supposed to be a largely illiterate society.
