That’s-A-Wrap to Offer Resistance

Company to Produce Feature Film as Prelude to TV Series

That’s-A-Wrap Productions, active in production and development of television and motion pictures throughout Australia and internationally for the last ten years, today announced Resistance, a new science fiction action-adventure film, with a planned follow-on television series to continue its complex, multi-layered story.

Created by That’s-A-Wrap’s Executive Producer, Andrew Dillon, Resistance is the story of a covert attempt by aliens from outer space to take over the Earth and a guerilla-style battle to stop them when most of the world won’t believe the threat exists. What makes the story even more interesting is its focus on a band of super-smart teenagers at the center of this conflict: not only do they have to save the world but they have to deal with school, hormones and dating.

“This project is a dream of mine,” said Dillon. “I love the story, the characters; I love what it has to say about standing up for what’s right, no matter what other people think. When I first conceived Resistance, I wanted to tell a story that stood out and excited me, like the ones I was exposed to as a child. Thunderbirds, Battlestar of the Planets, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Doctor Who, and Battlestar Galactica. As a filmmaker, this has been my influence. I want to invite people on a journey that will not only excite you but will have you craving more.”

Pre-production is already underway for the Resistance movie. The movie and follow-on series will be shot in Australia using Panavision’s Genesis High Definition digital cameras, the same cameras used for Superman Returns and the upcoming Wolverine, the prequel to X-Men.

Additionally, That’s-A-Wrap is in negotiations with major visual effects house to handle the considerable special effects required to bring the story to life.

“The plan is to tell a big story in the feature and then continue it with the television series,” said Dillon. “You can only do so much in the 100 or so minutes of a movie. But it sets up the world and lets us do some big things. After that, the story can really unfold and expand in the television series. And we can really get to know the characters in depth. It becomes that much more real.”

Production on the Resistance feature is expected to start later this year.

  1. I’ll look for this, and keep my fingers crossed that any quality involved doesn’t fade like smoke the further away the story gets from Craig’s word processor.
