Both Michael Swanwick and Greg Frost have been good friends of both the NYRSF magazine and our readings, so it is only fitting that we bring you this wonderful double-header.

Gregory Frost  is a writer of fantasy, science fiction, and thrillers. He is the author of the acclaimed duology, Shadowbridge and Lord Tophet (Del Rey/Random House 2008), which was called “one of the few must-read fantasies of the year” by the Fantasy Book Critic and voted one of the best fantasy novels of the year by the American Library Association in 2009.  Publishers Weekly gave it a starred review and also called his short story collection Attack of the Jazz Giants & Other Stories (Golden Gryphon Press, 2005) “one of the best fantasy collections of the year.” The collection includes both “Madonna of the Maquiladora,” and the original Shadowbridge story, “How Meersh the Bedeviler Lost His Toes.”

Frost has been a finalist for the James Tiptree Award, Nebula Award, Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award, World Fantasy Award, Hugo Award, and the International Horror Guild Award.  He is a current Fiction Writing Workshop Director at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, PA.

Michael Swanwick is one of the most acclaimed science fiction and fantasy writers of his generation. He has received Hugo Awards for short fiction an unprecedented five times in six years. His novel Stations of the Tide was honored with the Nebula Award and was also nominated for the Hugo and Arthur C. Clarke Awards. “The Edge of the World” received the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award and was nominated for both the Hugo and World Fantasy Awards. “Radio Waves” received the World Fantasy Award. His stories are frequently reprinted in Best of the Year anthologies and have been translated and published throughout the world.  He is the author of Griffin’s Egg, In the Drift, Stations of the Tide, Vacuum Flowers, The Iron Dragon’s Daughter, and its sequel, The Dragons of Babel.  His latest novel, Dancing With Bears, continues the adventures of the far-future confidence tricksters, Darger and Surplus, and is just out from Night Shade Books.

The New York Review of Science Fiction Reading Series provides performances from some of the best writers in science fiction, fantasy, speculative fiction, etc.  The series usually takes place the first Tuesday of every month, but maintains flexibility in time and place, so be sure to stay in touch through the mailing list and the Web.
After the event, please join us as we treat our readers for dinner and drinks nearby.
