BSFS Will Host “Rock Dragons Ignite” Release Party

February 1 will be a busy Saturday as the Baltimore Science Fiction Society clubhouse plays host to the Dangerous Voices Variety Hour, immediately followed by the book release party for Daily Science Fiction’s, Rocket Dragons Ignite: Daily Science Fiction Year Two

Daily Science Fiction, the online prozine with a Monday-Friday schedule, has collected 260 stories published in its second year in one volume. There will be an official book release at BSFS and Editors-in-Chief Jonathan Landen and Michele-lee Barasso will be selling copies. Many previous DSF writers will also be on hand, including Sarah Pinsker, Ann Chatham, M. Adrian Sellers, Rahul Kanakia, Jamie Todd Rubin, Rajan Khanna, Erik B. Scott, Mariel Herbert, Henry Lu, Erica L. Satifka, Alexandra Petri, Sophie Wereley, Day Al-Mohamed, Bridget A. Natale, and Tom Doyle.

The party is free and open to the public – wear something casual. The party begins at 7 p.m.

Right before the Rocket Dragons Ignite release party, from 5-7 p.m. at BSFS, the Dangerous Voices Variety Hour will be held, a new unique reading series which takes its cues from such diverse inspirations as NPR’s quiz show “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me,” and Orson Welles’s original “War of the Worlds” broadcast. The two hour free event features readings, irreverent author interviews, trivia, prizes, and more. Compton Crook Award Winner Myke Cole, and Rahul Kanakia, will be the author guests. All are invited to attend Dangerous Voices and then stay for the book release party.

Copies of Rocket Dragons Ignite can be purchased here. The collections are each about 870 pages of science fiction, fantasy, slipstream; 260+ stories adding to more than 425,000 words. Cost: $24.95 (plus $5 shipping/handling to U.S. destinations).

The location of the BSFS clubhouse is 3310 East Baltimore Street, Baltimore, MD 21224.
