Sf author Michael Burstein reminds me I once ran a post about the possibility that he might run for U.S. Senator from Massachusetts. Now he says:
My congressman, Barney Frank, has just announced his plans not to run for re-election in 2012.

I know we have had a fan in the position of judge in the past, but have we ever had a science fictional/fannish member of Congress before? (Other than Dana Rohrabacher who was once a libertarian but a fringefan.) Tim Kyger used to work at the Pentagon in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, but he’s the highest official I know of (unless you count President Obama’s childhood hobby of collecting Conan the Barbarian and Spider-Man comics).
