Ghostbusters: Afterlife Official Trailer

Everything happens for a reason. Ghostbusters: Afterlife in theaters next summer.

In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.

  1. Yeah? Interesting to note that the trailer does not look like a comedy (despite Rudd). Might be a deliberate choice, Im curious for the full trailer. I dont see the need for a stranger thing – Ghostbusters. There are enough movies for that itch.

  2. A movie designed and crafted for that feeling of “Nostalgia”. Can’t see any original ideas here.

  3. This looks more like Stranger Things: The Movie than Ghostbusters. One of the young actors actually is from Stranger Things. And we already have more than enough US rural small town nostalgia.

I also wonder how the timeline is supposed to work, if the two kids are the grandkids of Egon Sprengler. The original Ghostbusters was in 1984, Ghostbusters 2 in 1990. In both movies, Egon Sprengler shows no sign of having kids and actually shows zero interest in any kind of sexual activity at all, even though Janine is certainly willing. So even if Egon had a kid shortly after Ghostbusters 2, there is no way someone born in approx. 1991 could be the mother of a boy played by Finn Wolfhard, who was born in 2002. Of course, it’s possible that Egon was a deadbeat dad, but that doesn’t fit the character we’ve seen in two Ghostbusters movies and umpteen cartoon episodes. If they’d made Peter Venkman the grandfather, it would work, but Egon? Sorry, but I’m not buying it.

Also, dismissing the 2016 Ghostbusters (which I liked quite a lot) in the trailer is not exactly a display of class.
