At first I was a little miffed by what sounded to me like a condescending statement by actor Ian McKellen, who plays Gandalf in the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies. He told a Today show interviewer —
“I never understand the plot, anyway,” he chuckled about the Peter Jackson-directed films. “I just do what I’m told.”
But when I read that he’s currently doing two plays with Patrick Stewart on Broadway, one of which is “Waiting for Godot”, I could see how insisting on understanding the plot of every assignment might limit a person’s acting career.
I love the actor Ian. I was listening to an audio book on newfiction.com . His voice is great.
If it helps an actor to have no clue about his role in a film, I guess I’m all for it.
Re name it “Waiting for Frodot”.
I like that!
