  1. @Hampus Watch out for that meta stuff. You give an award to an award, that’s when awards start gaining sentience and taking over

  2. Ooooooookay. I’m obviously not the target demographic for this; I didn’t find it the slightest bit amusing or original, and I’m not sure what the point of it is supposed to be.

  3. Interesting that in both of the first two bouts Fifth Season took the Marvel character and Uprooted the Capcom, but in this one it was reversed.

  4. I thought this whole “award” was fun but I would now love to see some behind the scenes if there hadn’t already been some- like, what about the process meant the winner had to come through Street Fighter rather than the original program?

  5. Andrew Porter: I’m not impressed by the website, which claims they’ve eclipsed the Hugos in importance. I’d never heard of this award before.

It’s a joke award, one of several strategies the author has used to raise his public profile and draw people to his website to promote his writing. Another is posting lists which name-check a bunch of famous SFF authors as a way to trigger Google alerts and drive searches to his website.
