As the dog days of August bark their way toward Autumn, it is time to begin our 22nd season, bringing you some of the best writers reading some of their best speculative fiction.  We’ll be slightly off-schedule for a bit, so as to avoid conflicts with the Labor Day weekend and Worldcon.  Therefore, rather than the first Tuesday of the month, we’ll be having our season premiere the second week.

Carlos Hernandez features his Cuban roots in his writing, except when he doesn’t. You can find his fiction in places like Bewere the Night, You Don’t Have a Clue, Interfictions II, Interzone, Futurismic, and Fiction International, but if your karma is good, his work will find you.  By day, Carlos is a CUNY professor of English.  He is also lead writer for Meriwether, a computer role-playing game chronicling the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Richard Bowes lives in Manhattan and has published five novels, two collections and sixty stories. His mosaic novel Dust Devil on a Quiet Street will be published in 2013 by Lethe Press. Lethe will also reprint his Lambda winning novel Minions of the Moon in late 2012.

Recent and forthcoming appearances include F&SF, Icarus, Apex, Lightspeed and the anthologies Million Writers Award, After, Wilde Stories 2012, Bloody Fabulous, Ghosts: Recent Hauntings, Handsome Devil, and Hauntings.

The New York Review of Science Fiction Reading Series provides performances from some of the best writers in science fiction, fantasy, speculative fiction, etc.  The series usually takes place the first Tuesday of every month, but maintains flexibility in time and space, so be sure to stay in touch through the e-mail list, Facebook, and the Web.
After the event, please join us as we treat our readers for dinner and drinks nearby.
