Pleading Notes

Write faster, damn you, sing two Game of Thrones fans in Write Like the Wind (George R.R. Martin) [YouTube].

The song sucks, but when the performers are wearing imitation Martin beards they look like a poor man’s ZZ Top, which isn’t all bad.

[Thanks to Andrew Porter for the story.]

  1. It completely baffles me that you haven’t heard of Paul and Storm, who are a notable geek rock band in their own right, not just ‘two Game of Thrones fans’. They have multiple albums and regularly tour with Jonathan Coulton.

(The clue to the fact that they aren’t just random fans is the fact that their music video appeared on Geek and Sundry, which is Felicia Day’s brainchild and not in the habit of just whacking random content on the Internet.)

  2. @John: If I liked the song I would have a reason to research the musicians and name them in the post. In this case I mainly liked the beards. Maybe some of their other songs are much better?

  3. The balding guy in the middle is Jeff Lewis [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Lewis_(actor) ], who is part of The Guild web series [ http://www.youtube.com/user/watchtheguild ; http://www.youtube.com/geekandsundry ; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Guild ], and has performed in all three of The Guild-related song videos which feature Felicia Day singing lead: “Do You Want to Date my Avatar?” [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urNyg1ftMIU ], “Game On” [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMrN3Rh55uM ], and “I’m the One that’s Cool” [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFhgupR565Q ].
