Mark Evans

Ohio conrunner Mark Evans died April 2 of heart problems. He was 62.

I remember meeting Mark in Columbus at the 1977 Marcon — which I reached from LA on a Greyhound bus. (You don’t forget things like that.) He was completing his Smof apprenticeship before starting a streak of six consecutive years as Marcon’s co-chair. (Ross Pavlac was his co-chair in 1978-79, and Liz Gross from 1980-1983.)

Evans also was a former chair of Context, another Ohio sf convention. And he had continued working the con in various capacities, last year helping organize the con suite.
