I was one of those who encountered “The Little Prince” and after one look said to myself, “Meh.” Even so, it seems popular. My concern is that the source might be a little thin for a full lenght animated feature … but then so was “Horton Sees a Who,” “The Lorax,” “Shrek” and a few other kid’s books that were filmed, and that turned out all right. A bigger concern is the director, who also directed Kung Fu Panda. It’s a gorgeous film, and was a monster in the box office, but to me seemed mechanical and obvious. Well, we’ll see… On the whole I think the animated genre has produced a better rate of fair to excellent movies than the SF genre in recent years.
