This is the weekend in 1980 I first I read the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings! My older brother thought I should read it before the cartoon came on. So I read the entirety of the Hobbit and LOTR at age 9. I can’t say I understand it all, but I was ready for the cartoon when it premiered.
I always knew it was around 1980 or so that it came on TV and I did this, but not precisely when. Thanks for clarifying that, Mike!
The song in MOTHRA is one of the most persistent earworms. The song is not sung completely in the film. Later films focused on it.
