Wizards of Aus Trailer

The Wizards of Aus premieres January 19 on Australia’s SBS. This six-part comedy series from LateNight Films sounds like a cross between My Favorite MartianGame of Thrones, and several Peter Jackson movies…

Fed up with the Magical Realm’s obsession with large-scale fantasy warfare, Jack the Wizard decides to migrate to the sanest place he can think of: Melbourne’s Western suburbs. After accidentally causing Flinders Street Station to turn ever so slightly into a giant Fish monster, his existence (and that of his fellow magical immigrants) is revealed to the Australian public. Fearing a backlash against himself and his kind, Jack swears off using magic in a bid to better assimilate into human life. But of course, fitting in was never going to be easy when people tend to get a bit ‘explode-y’ whenever you sneeze…

Lots more amusing details about making the series in the director’s statement.

  1. Well 10 out of 10 for effort on the trailer. Hope the series delivers on that promise but even if it doesn’t bravo for trying 🙂
[Was that Guy Pearce as the chat show host?]

  2. Sorry, but that trailer didn’t do much for me. It had lotsa ‘splosions and, uhm, very gag type jokey jokes, but is there a real story with characters in it? I hope there’s more to the finished product than over-the-top schtick, visual effects and slapstick.

    Maybe I’m just being grumpy.
