Alien: Covenant Run Pray Hide Trailer

20th Century Fox has aired three short previews of Alien: Covenant, “Run,” “Pray,” and “Hide,” which are merged in the trailer below.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with Alien: Covenant, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

In theaters May 19, 2017.

And here’s a newly-released short TV commercial.

  1. So is it saying something about me that the trailer showing the still of an attacking face hugger looks remarkably like… you know.

    You don’t know? Oh.

  2. @ NickPheas
If it is, it’s saying the same thing about me, so at least you’re in bad company.

    Ante-pre fifth!

  3. @NickPheas: I’m sure that H.R. Giger had nothing like that in mind when he designed the original. Just look at his work – nary a nookie metaphor in sight.

  4. Those trailers weren’t exciting to me. I’m not sure why. I think maybe I just need Sigourney Weaver and Jonesy.

  5. Kathodus: Well, primarily, it’s that they don’t suggest anything new. We’ve seen two very different colonies, in the extended edition of Aliens and in Alien 3. We know the dance by now. It’s certainly possible that there’s something new to say about how hopes backed by enormous resources get burned down and pushed into the swamp by encounter with the xenomorphs, but if there is, it’s not in these trailers.

  6. I also was surprised by the lack of newness to these trailers. Every beat seemed to borrow directly from the original Alien. The only new thrill I saw was the chance to see Kenny Powers freak out.
