  1. Another genre film for Carol Channing was Shinbone Alley, the 1970 animated musical based on Don Marquis’ newspaper columns from the early part of the 20th century, about Archy, a poet reincarnated as a cockroach, who would type out unpunctuated free verse overnight, if Marquis left paper in the typewriter, by hurling his body at the keys. He often wrote about his friend, Mehitabel the cat. Channing provided the voice of Mehitabel. This is the least likely topic for a cartoon movie musical I can imagine, but it got made. Mel Brooks worked on it. You can find the entire movie on YouTube.
