Goodreads Choice Awards 2018 Final Round


Final round voting has begun in the Goodreads Choice Awards: The Best Books 2018 and will continue through November 26. The winners will be announced December 4.

There are 21 categories overall. Here is what readers picked to advance to the final rounds in these categories of genre interest —

  1. I don’t think any of the write ins survived in fantasy or SF. I think they aggregate the scores from all the rounds so they’re always going to be at a disadvantage.
    There’s also some genre interest in Best Debut with Tomi Adeyemi and R F Kuang.

  2. The fantasy finalists look reasonable to me. A lot of popular books by popular authors.

    As for SF, I’m not quite sure why Only Human survived through three rounds. I found the first in the series very unmemorable and also don’t know any SFF people who particularly like those books. I’m also find Pierce Brown very average, but then he does seem to have a big fanbase that doesn’t overlap much with our corner of fandom. Meanwhile, The Oracle Year bypassed me altogether.
