Voting has begun in the first round of the Goodreads Choice Awards: The Best Books 2018 and will continue through November 4.
There are 21 categories overall. Here is what Goodreads recommended in the categories of genre interest. In the opening round, write-ins are also allowed.

Lookie, lookie, Dragon Award nominee The Land: Predators up among best fantasy nominees. Not bad work for LitRPG.
I do think Kong’s book is one of those that attracts people who maybe don’t usually read. And he is enormously good at mixing popculture with humour and adding it to a fantasy world. You do have to like your RPGs no enjoy them though and be able to overlook a bit too much machismo in the first books in the series. Also serious trigger warnings on Mount Char-level in some scenes.
Worth mentioning that there’s a “Best of the Best” category which has all the past winners from each year and category of the awards. I suspect if anything genre is going to come close to winning it will be one of the Harry Potters.
Also of genre interest, Toni Adeyemi and RF Kuang in Debut Author.
The Best of The Best section has every winner from the last ten years all in one pot, which surely means that one of the fiction categories will just steamroller the rest.
Their suggested short list is weird at best. Ball Lightning? Only Human? Neither is much good, IMHO.
And where’s The Calculating Stars? Or Blackfish City for that matter? Both of those have had a *lot* of hype, and the live up to that hype.

My understanding is that it’s based on some weird combo of their metrics, but I’ve yet to work out what it is because there are always some odd anomalies – Ball Lightning certainly looks like it should be below The Calculating Stars based on either numbers of reviews/ratings or star ratings. I wrote in The Calculating Stars, and also Foundryside in Fantasy.

Heck yeah, Foundryside! That one’s an absolute banger! Their metrics must be completely whack to miss that one.
