Jon Del Arroz’ Twitter Account Restored

Jon Del Arroz let everyone know he’s back on Twitter today. It didn’t take Elon Musk buying the company to make that happen after all.

For reasons not explained, none of his tweets prior to today are displayed, and a long string of them are labeled “This tweet was deleted by the author.” When asked why, JDA answered:

Two of JDA’s other accounts — @leadinghispanic and @rislandiabooks – remain suspended at this writing.

  1. I’m a member of SFWA. I would consider taking any notice of this guy beneath me and a waste of time. He’s had his 15 minutes,

  2. Now the question is, how long until he says something reportable again?

  3. Now the question is, how long until he says something reportable again?

Anyone want to start a betting pool?

  4. Wait a damn minute — now he’s Science Fiction Grand Master? And isn’t that an actual Award?

Wasn’t there a SF story about little squishy creatures who took pretentiousness, egotistical titles unto themselves all the time?

  5. ‘Cause nothing demonstrates “I’ve never said any of the horrible things people claim that I’ve said!” like deleting every tweet you’ve ever made.

  6. More than that– it’s his brand to say such things. So yes, count on it.

  7. I guess he can say Science Fiction Grand Master, as opposed to SFWA Grand Master, which would be an actionable claim. But it’s on par with those store brand products that use the same color scheme and packaging style to make you think you’re buying the name brand.

Thanks, I knew that I had heard of it but wasn’t placing it right now. He is an egoistical prat, isn’t he? (I’d use stronger language but there’s no need to.) Of course he is a true knock off in every sense of that term — cheap, no where as good as the real thing and generally tastes foul.

  9. Elon hasn’t bought Twitter yet, so he’s actually innocent in this.
However, JdA, being 10 pounds of ego in a 2-pound bag, will do something to get his account suspended again

Unless Elon agrees to abide by the conditions of both European Community and Great Britain re privacy protection and such, he won’t be purchasing Twitter. And I doubt he’ll be willing to live with their rules.

  11. JDA:

“I need to promote a new kickstarter grift, and Twitter keeps killing my ban evasion accounts so I can’t get any social traction that way. Lemme finally go ahead and delete alllllllllllllll those tweets that Twitter suspended me for like they say, then ask for unsuspension. I just gotta make sure I don’t say any of my usual suspendable stuff until AFTER the kickstarter’s done.”

  12. So he deletes multiple criticized tweets (and still has sock-puppet accounts suspended for twitter ban evasion), and gets his account back.

Meanwhile I’ve passed the one YEAR anniversary of being blocked from my account for someone reporting a comment in which I pointed out the Covid vaccines do NOT shed as anti-vaxxers claim, which I don’t want to delete because it is, simply put, true, not insulting, or harmful. I followed the process and pointedly have NOT made an alt-account and apparently all I get for it is nada. (my first appeal was rejected, likely by a machine, my second hasn’t even received a reply after 8 months, even though I included a CDC link that said the same.)

    Twitter’s process is stupid.

  13. Lenora Rose: Because I find it unlikely that JDA would want to delete all the past things he’s tweeted to mock and harass people, I wonder if that reflects a settlement made with a different decision-making arm of the company than Twitter Safety,if you get my drift.
