April 6, 1930: Bakery manager Jimmy Dewar invented a cream filled sponge cake, now known as the Twinkie.
Nutritionists later discovered that so far as their effect on the human body was concerned, whether customers ate them or strapped them directly to their thighs, it made about the same difference.

Then they certainly should be called “Dewar’s!” ( And Devil Dogs could be Dewar’s, With a Twist.)
Not a junk food junkie. I don’t think I’ve eaten one for 30 years. Mostly because of the ingredients, some which trigger allergic responses.
And originally, the cream filling was banana flavored. It was changed during a banana shortage during World War II.
