Peter David Suffers Stroke

Comics writer Peter David announced on his blog:

We were on vacation in Florida when I lost control of the right side of my body. I cannot see properly and I cannot move my right arm or leg. We are currently getting the extent of the damage sorted out and will report as further details become clarified.

David currently writes X-Factor for Marvel. His comic book work has been crowned by an award-winning, 12-year run on The Incredible Hulk. He has written tons of other comics, and for TV — including one of the few non-Straczysnki scripts for Babylon 5.

  1. Just a minor point that Peter is not just a comics writer, having written original Star Trek novels, original Babylon 5 novels which are canonical in that universe, a series of original comedic fantasy novels, and screenplay adaptions to novel form, as well as television episodes and even some crossover fan fiction, as well as non-fiction editorial commentary.

I think the perception of him as a “comics writer” has pigeon-holed him somewhat, as he’s written Hugo/Nebula quality work (as least in my opinion) but so far as I’m aware (someone please correct me if I’m mistaken) has never made it onto a ballot.

  2. @David:Thanks for the added insights. I was a little worried that if I put in so much history it would overwhelm the news component. But he’s a remarkable writer and that’s why I ‘m following the story.
