FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Monday, August 1, 2011

Reno, Nevada, USA – Renovation is pleased to announce that Angry Robot, Tor Books and Baen Books are all sending donations for Renovation’s book drive to benefit public libraries in the Reno area. We encourage other fantasy and science fiction publishers to join this effort by donating recent titles to expand the collections of Washoe County libraries. Books and graphic novels for YA and beginning readers are at the top of the “wish list,” but current adult novels and anthologies would also be welcome.

Depending on the number of books donated, we would like to do two things: help the libraries refresh their genre collections and also provide several books per branch as prizes for enthusiastic readers who participate in the library system’s summer reading program.

The Washoe County Library System has 11 branches, including one branch at a senior center. Current science fiction and fantasy books for readers of all ages would therefore be welcome.

For information about how to donate, see the Renovation website at www.renovationsf.org/book-drive.php. php. Because support of the summer reading programs is one of our goals, we ask that publishers ship books as soon as possible.

ENDS

Renovation is the 2011 World Science Fiction Convention (“Worldcon”). The first Worldcon occurred in New York City in 1939 and Worldcons have been held annually since then except for 1942-45 when there was no event due to World War II. Renovation’s Guests of Honor are Ellen Asher, Charles N. Brown (in memoriam), Tim Powers and Boris Vallejo.

For more details about the convention or to purchase memberships, visit www.renovationsf.org. Send press questions, or requests to be removed from the Renovation press release mailing list, to [email protected]. Send general queries to [email protected].
