winner was announced at ConGregate 8 on July 22 in Winston-Salem, NC. The award is presented by the North Carolina Speculative Fiction Foundation.

The Manly Wade Wellman Award was founded in 2013 to recognize outstanding achievement in science fiction and fantasy novels written by North Carolina authors. The award is named for long-time North Carolina author Manly Wade Wellman with the permission of his estate.

The winners of the
are Monica Byrne for 2014 Tiptree Award The Girl In the Road, and Jo Walton for My Real Children. Each winner will receive $1000 in prize money, a specially commissioned piece of original artwork, and chocolate.
