Cats Sleep on SFF: Adventure Comics

Mike Penick sent in a sequel to the “Cats Sleep on SFF: The Zanzibar Cat” post of last November.

I am Mike Penick, the husband of Ron Maas who sent you the Zanzibar Cat photo.  This is Imra, named after Saturn Girl of the Legion of Super-Heroes with her head on a copy of Adventure Comics #364, January 1968.  It happens to be the first Legion comic I ever owned (not the same copy).  In addition to having an extensive comic book collection, I am also a longtime fan of prose science fiction and fantasy. Imra the cat is decidedly non-heroic, but is round in shape like LSH member Bouncing Boy.

Cats Sleep on SFF:
The Zanzibar Cat

Ron Maas points to Joanna Russ’ book The Zanzibar Cat as the most feline of the titles his cat Cunégonde decided to lie down on.

Ron, a fan since the Seventies, lives in Washington D.C. with his husband Mike. Their other cat is named Imra Ardeen, after Saturn Girl from the comics. Mike’s favorite series is the Legion of Super Heroes. Ron’s main fan activity is contributing to the ISFDB where he goes by Rtrace.
