  1. Somebody on Io9 bitched about this ad, but I just don’t see a problem with this, which looks just wonderful. To have Luc Besson making a big concept movie like this, I am so onboard. Hell, I even don’t mind Cara Delavigne or her eye brow for once.

  2. The io9 comment bitching came in three flavours:
    – “I have never heard of this, so no one else has either.”
    – “This looks like franchise X, which ripped off the original comics or rip-offs thereof.”
    – “I don’t like the actors.”

The visuals are stunning, but I’m disappointed that Laureline doesn’t get more than a few seconds of screentime in the trailer (also, the comics are called “Valerian and Laureline” or at least were, when I read them, since the very early ones weren’t, so why not the movie?). Alas, Cara Delavigne doesn’t match my image of Laureline at all. Not that the male lead really matches my image of Valerian, but he still fits better than she does. Still, maybe they’ll be brilliant in the roles.

And with Luc Besson at the helm, we can expect eye candy. Plus, he’s allegedly a huge fan of the comics and has been wanting to film them since forever, so I’m cautiously optimistic about this.

  3. They really titled a movie after an herbal sedative? Will it put viewers to sleep?

There’s more of her in the earlier trailers. More of Valerian, too.
