Loncon 3, the 2014 Worldcon in London, is offering attending memberships on an installment payment plan that permits fans to spread the cost over 3 quarterly or 4 monthly installments.
The plan calls for fans to buy a supporting membership first (currently 25.00 British pounds or US$40.00) and then pay the amount needed to convert it to an attending membership by installments.
The total charge for the membership will be frozen at the time of signing up for the Plan. (Note also that a rate hike is coming May 1, 2013.)
The plan is available to Adults, Young Adults and Families.

Loncon 3 Announces Instalment Payment Plan
LONDON, UK. 23 March 2013:
As part of its continued support for members, Loncon 3 is introducing an Instalment Plan which will enable fans to spread the cost of an Attending membership over 3 quarterly or 4 monthly instalments. Under the Plan, fans will buy a Supporting membership first (currently ?25.00 or US$40.00) and then pay the fee for conversion to Attending membership over 3 quarterly or 4 monthly instalments.
The total charge for the membership will be frozen at the time of signing up to the Plan. (Note also that membership rates in general will increase from 1 May 2013.)
The plan is available to Adults, Young Adults and Families.
To join the plan Adults and Young Adults must be or become Supporting members of Loncon 3, including the Adult members and any Young Adult members covered by a Family membership.
Interest in the Instalment Plan has already been strong. Loncon 3 wants to make membership more accessible to science fiction fans from as many countries as possible and from all ages and backgrounds.

Tried that deposit plan with Chicon. There was some misfiling and misunderstand and they didn’t acknowledge my checks nor bothered to find out why I was sending them checks, despite phone numbers and e mails and one way communicatin. I hope that the idea can be perfected. I’m just grousing. But there should be a specific party that details this idea and works with it. I did get it cleared up but it was bothersome.
Yes , there is a person responsible for the Instalment Plan – it is me. I was Finance Manager for Interaction, the last UK Worldcon, this time I’m doing something less onerous!
