Cats Sleep on SFF: Der Marsianer

GiantPanda introduces us to Schnute:

This is a stray my Mom has been feeding for about a year.

The cat has learned to trust Mom, got the run of the house, mostly prefers DVDs to books and likes to cuddle. Goes by the name of Schnute (German for pout).

Mom still is adamant that this is Not Her Cat (well… maybe part time…)

Photos of other cats (or whatever you’ve got!) resting on genre works are welcome. Send to mikeglyer (at) cs (dot) com

  1. Cora Buhlert: Schnute (love the name) seems rather sceptical either of The Martian or the movie cover featuring Matt Damon.

I can see that Schnute is a cat of intelligence and discrimination, who is well aware that storms on Mars never get that violent. 😉

My ex’s parents were adopted by a 3-legged cat who was left behind when its owners in the neighborhood moved away. At first it hopped up on the dividing wall of their yard and walked along the top of it, to where it could hang out in their backyard. She made the mistake of feeding it.

Eventually, it started scratching on the front door; when the door opened, it would walk to the sliding patio doors at the back of the house and wait to be let out in the yard. When it decided to leave, it performed the process in reverse.

Eventually, the cat just ended up hanging out in their house. They named it Tripod, and had it for many years until its time came.

  2. I love everyone who has a big heart for straying cats! – I had “Der Marsianer” as audio book, and yes, my mother tongue is German.
