Yikes! SFSFC did not run Westercon 36! In fact, SFSFC didn’t even exist when Westercon 36 happened back in 1983. SFSFC was originally formed to bid for the 1993 Worldcon.
SFSFC was the sponsoring organization of Westercon 53 (Conolulu) in Hawaii, but in this announcement we were emphasizing Bay Area conventions, and in particular those that have been held in the facilities we’re considering using. We were trying to not use language that made it appear we were taking credit for conventions that other groups organized, only that our facilities can handle events like a Westercon.
