Worldcon bids emerging at Smofcon 31 this weekend were Washington D.C. in 2017, Fort Worth in 2021, and Chicago in 2022.
And a San Jose “exploratory” thingie is testing the waters before bidding for 2018. It’s reportedly run by the organization that held the 2002 Worldcon there.

Evelyn: Actually, in a sense it has. All these way-out-there “bids” are doing are “putting down markers.” They’re announcing an interest. They’re not running bid parties or doing the stuff that makes bidding so expensive (yet). Trial balloons is all that they are.
