Ken Richards shares a last visit with his cat on File 770:
I bring you my cranky old Birman Ruskin, to whom we bid farewell today. He is resting in ‘The Power’ indeed, having given up on Lovecraft. Here he is also, taking in one last bit of sunshine in the courtyard.

Photos of your felines (or whatever you’ve got!) resting on genre works are welcome. Send to mikeglyer (at) cs (dot) com
Oh, Ken, he’s lovely, and I’m so sorry for your loss. May your good memories be a comfort to you.
I’m so sorry. Saying goodbye is so painful.
‘Five things are worth drawing; four of them are pretty girls, and the fifth is a cat.’ -RAH
In Elysian fields, he’s still reading.
Ken, so sorry for your loss. We lost our wonderful 19-year-old Amelia just a few months ago; her preferred reading spot was not on my books, but lying right next to wherever I was. She enjoyed her life up until the last few days, as it looks like Ruskin did. It seems you each enriched the other’s life.
My condolences.
What a beautiful cat! I’m so sorry for your loss.
What a gorgeous cat (and a great book). Letting them go when it’s time is the last, best proof of love.
Thank you all for your kind words.
It is strange waking this morning and for the first time in 3 decades there is no cat in our house.
I am reading the last pages of ‘The System of the World’ and recall starting ‘Quicksilver’ back in 2003, when Ruskin was a brand new blue eyed kitten.
So many years…
My sympathies for your loss, Ken. Ruskin looks like a wonderful cat.
However long they are with us, it’s never long enough.
As a friend told me when I lost my buddy 3 years ago, they were never meant to be our friend for life, but we were to be their friend for life.
