Voting has begun in the first round of the Goodreads Choice Awards: The Best Books 2024 and will continue through November 24.
The 2024 Goodreads Choice Awards have two rounds of voting open to all registered Goodreads members. The final round begins November 26 and closes December 1. Winners will be announced December 1, 2024.
Eligible works are books published in the United States in English, including works in translation and other significant rereleases, between November 16, 2023, and November 12, 2024.
In the first round 20 books chosen by Goodreads are up for vote in each of the 15 categories, and members can vote for one book in each category. In the final round, the field narrows to the top 10 books in each category, and members will vote for the winners.
Shown below are the nominees in the Fantasy, Romantasy, Science Fiction, Horror, and Young Adult Fantasy categories. There are also some works of genre interest in the Debut Novel, and Audiobook categories.

LOL I haven’t read a single book on that list! It was better in the past when Goodreads members could nominate any book that they had read that was first published in the eligible year. Even if your nominations never made it to the ballot, you could feel as if you had participated, and there was also the possibility that some books not favoured by corporate interests would reach the ballot.
I’ve read the two Oor Wombat books on the list. I don’t think I’ve read anything else. (I now read primarily ebooks so cover art is less memorable to me (that’s the one real down-side of ebooks, alas) and my old eyes aren’t as good at picking out titles and authors from thumbnails of covers as they used to be…..)
I’ve read A Sorceress Comes to Call – which I expect to receive (at least) a mention in Cora Buhlert’s Darth Vader Parenthood Award for 2024.
Also The Tainted Cup – look for the ebook, it’s 99p on this side of the Atlantic.
