Glasgow 2024 Opens Hotel Bookings to Members

The Glasgow 2024 Worldcon committee posted information needed to book hotel rooms to all Glasgow 2024 members on Monday January 22 at 3:00 p.m. GMT.

Regardless of location and amenities, all hotel rooms in the Glasgow 2024 room blocks are managed by the Glasgow Convention Bureau (GCB). Most hotel rates include Bed and Breakfast, unless otherwise stated. Of the hotels in the Glasgow 2024 room blocks, seven are located on Glasgow’s Scottish Event Campus (SEC). Each of these are a short, step-free walk from the main convention venues. Other hotels are located in and around Central Glasgow.

You must be an attending member of Glasgow 2024 with a WSFS Membership to book a room at the reduced rates that have been negotiated between the convention and the GCB.

Childcare will be available in the Campanile Hotel, should that affect your choice.

  1. I never got an email. I contacted the convention using email and got a response and got a hotel

  2. I just registered and paid with credit card, my ‘dashboard’ has no link to any accommodation steps, tried it in two different browsers. The main page accommodation link takes me right back to my dashboard.

  3. Thank you for the suggestion @Linda Robinett; I reached out via the contact form and got a reply quickly, and have now managed to book a room, all sorted.

  4. I got two emails around 3 p.m. UK time, but after looking round the offerings I decided to book at my usual Glasgow abode, the Premier Inn Buchanan Gardens which is currently offering rates about 33-50% lower if I pay now! A few minutes commute on the train to/from Glasgow Central won’t eat up the savings!

  5. Re-post comment from a past thread:

As of this morning, the hotel reservation setup was a little confusing for me. If I logged into my membership outside the hotel page, it was username/password and I couldn’t find any hotel info. When I went from the link on the accommodations page, it was username/member number, which sent my email a link to click and log in. That led to a page that did have the hotel reservations link on it, and everything worked fine from there.

TL;DR – if you’re already authenticated on the Glasgow site and can’t get a hotel reservations link, you might have to log out and reauthenticate from the accommodations page.

  6. To my relief, I was able to book a room in my first choice hotel. Not cheap, but also not downtown and a train ride away. (That’s what I did in 2019; my hotel was on points, but it was downtown and usually Luas (light rail) ride away, except on Sunday, when the trams ran only ever 20 minutes and it was faster to walk than to wait for the next one.)

  7. My wife and I have yet to receive any email with the hotel registration as of 3:45pm Pacific Standard Time. We watched the social media discussions and then we reach out directly to con staff. We were then sent the link from staff’s private email. Managed to get our hotel of choice. We are both members and our email addresses listed are correct. Last email received was for PR 2. Lots of posts about members not getting emails. Mostly Canadian friends. No the emails are not going to Spam and addresses from Glasgow 2024 are in contacts. Something is wrong at their end. Hopefully they will resolve it but too late for some people.

  8. I saw on FB that John Scalzi had registered and tried to do the same. The web page would not provide a link to accommodations and kept sending me back to my membership status – singularly unhelpful. I then emailed the concom at info and got an immediate reply with the link to Passkey, but by then, all the hotels near the SEC were full. I never received any e-mail that day notifying me that reservations were open. Fortunately, anticipating potential problems, I previously used my Marriott Titanium status to make a reservation at the Moxy on points. The actual rate may be more expensive, but I have LOTS of points.
