Krefelder Preis für Fantastische Literatur 2023

The winners of the 2023 Krefelder Preis für Fantastische Literatur (Krefeld Prize for Fantastic Literature) are Boris Koch and Frauke Berger for their novel Das Schiff der verlorenen Kinder (The Ship of Lost Children).

They will receive a trophy that is a replica of the pentagondodecaheder, a mysterious Bronze Age artifact found near the city of Krefeld, as well as 10,000 Euro. This new German SFF award was given last year for the first time.

The winner was selected from among 85 entries of self-published works, works from specialized small publishers and titles from major publishing houses.

The three titles shortlisted for the award were:

  • Boris Koch und Frauke Berger: Das Schiff der verlorenen Kinder [The Ship of Lost Children] (Splitter)
  • Timo Leibig: Die Herrin der Regenmacher [Lady of the Rainmakers] (Penhaligon)
  • Kai Meyer: Fürimmerhaus [Foreverhouse] (Sauerländer)

[Thanks to Cora Buhlert for translating the press release and the titles of the shortlist works.]
