Winner: Every Heart a Doorway
Congrats to Seanon Mcguire
I’m three for three in the short fiction categories. 😀
And presenter for Best series is GRRM!
Best Series Presenter. George RR Martin.
OOR WOMBAT!!! 😀
Btw: Have some problems with File 770 at the moment.
Winner: The Vorkosigan Saga
This is weird, being awake while the Hugos are live. VERY civilised.
What the???????? Why is GRR Martin presenting awards when he should be finishing ASOFAI?????
Congrats to Luis McMaster Bujold on the win.
Presenter for Campbell award is Lisa Tuttle.
Windhaven (next Presenter Lisa Tuttle was a co-author) is a great book.
Ok, so Vorkosigan wasn’t a surprise, but very well deserved.
Judging from reactions on twitter, Red Wombat’s acceptance speech went down a storm.
Winner: Ada Palmer
This moose will go and reread GJ&TRQ as a special treat tonight.
3:O)>
Ada Palmer wins.
Gratz to Lois McMaster Bujold and Ada Palmer!
Red Wombats acceptance speech is the highlight as yet.
Congrats to Wombat for both the award and the best acceptance speech ever!
Went down like a dead whale?
Hampus: Yes it was.
Ooooh, tears, very emotional. She can’t read her speech because of tears. So overwhelmed, so happy, feeling so welcome. ENORMOUS CHEERS!
Speech about diabilities. WHOLE ROOM ERRUPTS!
\o/
Now the Big One
Now the big one. Presenter for Best Novel: , MP eho can speak Klingob, visiting worldcons since -87, Jyrki Kasvi.
Cool a Member of the finish Parlament is presenting it.
The perfect presenter!!!!
Winner: The Obelisk Gate!!!!
Wow, 2 times in a row.
!!!!!!!!!!!
Woah wasn’t expecting that – gratz to N.K. Jemisin!
A good strong list of winners. I didn’t vote first for every single one, but the ones I didn’t vote first for, I voted as a strong second….
Very happy with this crop of Hugos. And whalefall!!!
And now party time. Thank you all and cheer for Greg who will go to the losers party.
Much gratitude to Hampus for keeping us informed throughout the entire ceremony!
Excellent.
Wow. I was crossing my fingers for Ninefox but OG is a worthy winner. I think The Stone Sky is our next week – great timing there!
ETA : and seconding the applause for Hampus.
Congrats to all the worthy winners, thanks to Hampus for the commentary, well done everybody.
How long after the longlist is posted after that normally? I am very interested in this one this year.
Thanks Hampus.
Party krampus, Hampus!
I don’t really know what I mean by that.
Thank you so much, Hampus!
Great job.
I was rooting for OG as I liked it the most, but there were a lot of strong works on there and it being a middle book I just figured it wasn’t going to win. If Stone Sky sticks the landing she could see a clean sweep, has a series ever won three consecutive years?
Now, if anyone gets their hands on a copy of the full stats for us….
Thanks Hampus 🙂
Waiting for Hugo stats to be published…
(taps foot impatiently)
JJ: And I thought I was bad at waiting.
Congrats to everyone! Thank you Hampus for the commentary.
I am not at all repeatedly refreshing the Hugo Awards website waiting for the stats. Honest.
Thanks so much Hampus, as well as StefanB and others providing info. In my jetlagged haze of errands this morning I realised I forgot to sign up for a proper data package after topping up my home internet connection and have blown through 2 weeks of data budget in a night (Chinese stream didn’t help!) but it was worth it for so many worthy winners (with SO MANY WOMEN) and some really crucial information about whales.
And just wow to another N.K. Jemisin win. I admit Ninefox Gambit had my top spot but I am not at all disappointed at this result. Clearing my schedule now for the Stone Sky drop…
A lot of first-time winners this time I think.
Amal El-Mohtar, Abigail Nussbaum, Tea and Jeopardy, Lady Business, Liz Gorinsky, Seanan McGuire, probably others?
I was following along on the text feed at TheHugoAwards.org. So glad I could come over here as well! Congratulations to all winners and finalists, especially to Our Wombat!!!
Now to take a tiny break and then read more 2017 published books!
