  1. sigh Decades too late for the man who deserves this above anyone else: Mike Jitlov. Unfortunately, he hasn’t put out a film in decades….

  2. N.B. Have to wonder if any of these Award Winners will ever be shown at Worldcon or other conventions?

It was also great to see the Shout-Out for MJ!

  3. Film buffs only half jokingly call Richard Lester the Father of Music Videos (a designation he likewise half jokingly denies) during his direction of the Beatle’s movie “A Hard Day’s Night.” Mike Jittlov was obviously paying close attention and learned the critical importance of Cutting on the Beat from a Master at it.
I saw Jittlov’s video “Fascination/Animato” way back in ’78 at a Con and was entranced. Only later did I realize that he had beaten the entire MTV industry to the punch by at least 3 years.
I find it hard to believe that Ray Harryhausen could NOT have known or seen any of Jittlov’s work considering how many conventions Ray went to. “The Wizard of Speed and Time” is straight out of Harryhausen’s notebook and must have earned Mike a smile and a nod from another Master.

P.S. MJ was another artist screwed over by the Evil Mouse Empire, specifically for his animation clips. [See Wikipedia]
P.P.S. Ask me some time about my experience staring at the Medusa…
